Broken Arm and E Love

E snuggling B on the couch while he told her all about his hurt arm and to not bump it please.

S on the floor as close to B as he could get.

 Everyone loving on B

B's teachers and classmates made him get-well cards and sent them home with S along with a bag of goodies.  S wanted to be just like B.  He had Papa make him his own cast and kept his arm up, sat on the couch with B and told me he couldn't take a bath 'cause he was going to get his cast wet!

E loving on S.  I couldn't decide which picture was cuter so I put them both up

We had an exciting or not so exciting few days, depending on how you want to look at it.  S had had a cold and had been doing better for a few days.  So, we sent him back to school and Friday night we had a play date with some of our friends at the park after school.  S came up to me crying that his leg hurt and he stopped playing with the kids.  The next morning he scared me to death screaming from his bed for somebody to come and get him he couldn't get out of bed by himself, he couldn't walk.  Took him to the doctor (who amazingly waived the bill on the way out!) who was afraid it was a bacterial infection in his hip socket.  So S and N got an all day visit to the hospital down town.  Thankfully it was not a bacterial infection!!!!  Strangely, the remainder of his cold virus had settled in his hip socket.  So, they told us not to let him walk on it for at least 4 days.

So, Monday S was home with me and E and we were  spending the morning watching movies and reading books, trying to keep him from getting up.  He was so determined he would even slither on his belly to get something he wanted by himself.  B had been at school about 2 hours when I got a phone call from the school that B had fallen off the playground equipment and they thought he had broken his wrist!  I could hear my poor baby crying in the background.  I started to bawl.  Thankfully, N was only a few minutes away from school so I called him and he went and took B to the doctor.  It was 3 hours before they even gave the poor kid any pain killers.  Every time N would call sweet B was crying in the background.  Broke my heart!  I can't imagine how N felt!  One time N let B talk to me and he said, "Hi Mommy.  I hurt my arm really bad.  Is E there?  Does E want to talk to me?" Turns out B snapped his wrist completely in half and broke part of another bone.  They had to sedate him to put it back in place.  The one bone had moved on top of his other bones and it took them over a half hour to get it moved!  He was really swollen, so he had to have a temporary cast for a week.  As soon as he came home I wanted to hold him, "I love you Mommy.  Does E want me?  I want E."  This little angel girl is all compassion.  When the kids are hurt or sad they want E!  He was miserable for about 27 hours, then he FINALLY fell asleep for about 3 hours.  After that he started to feel better.  After a week he went back and got a GREEN cast, his favorite color and he was so happy to return to school yesterday.  Next week they will do X-rays and re-cast and we will find out how many weeks he's in this itchy cast!

Poor B! I dread the day when I deal with that for the first time. I'm thinking that it's only a matter of time... Hope he heals quickly!
